Earth Hour
Seeing everyone outside partying for St. Patrick’s Day a few days ago was a little ridiculous, but also really cool. It was awesome that everyone was wearing green and united as one. Then, I started thinking… what if everyone on campus got together for stuff like this more often? And I don’t just mean for holidays and football games. It would be crazy if we could get a bunch of people excited about solving world problems. I would love it if everyone wore all red to support HIV/AIDS victims, or pink for breast cancer awareness. It makes you feel really good to be a part of a group like that.
Then, I realized, we have an opportunity coming up soon to join together in another BIG movement. Every year, environmental protection groups host Earth Hour. The idea is pretty simple– you just turn off your lights in your East Lansing apartment for one hour!! Whether you believe in global warming or not, it’s important to be smart about conserving energy, and this is a great way for us to all act together as one to make a difference! On Sunday, March 27th, millions of people around the world will be turning off their lights for one hour.
Interested? Check out Earth Hour. One thing’s for sure, I’ll be in my MSU apartment in the dark next Sunday from 8:30 to 9:30 pm.
