Scarves are one of those great accessories that are super versatil and can be worn all year round. And, I think I can vouch for everyone when I say most of us have a scarf lying around somewhere in our Michigan State student apartment. Whether you choose to wear it the traditional way, around your neck, or you mix it up by using it as a head wrap, or belt, scarves are very stylish! Winter is a great time for scarves and a compliment to many outfits. Here are directions on how to tie your scarf according to your style and to make a fashion statement! (If you are a guy that wants to learn the techniques, check out Kinowear’s blog for some more masculine looks).
How to tie scarves:
The Keyhole Scarf- this is a simple style that works well with longer scarves. You can do this with any type of material, and is good for anytime of the year. To tie a keyhole scarf, fold the scarf in half length-wise and wrap it around your neck, keep the looped end on one side and open ends on the other, slip the open ends through the loop and tighten. The ends will just dangle down wherever you choose.
For a dressier look, use the dress knot: Tie a knot in the middle of the scarf, secure the scarf behind your neck with a loose knot, adjust the front knot where you choose.
The warm winter scarf look, take a long scarf and place the middle of it around the front of your neck, then cross the ends behind your neck and back around to the front.
For square scarves, fold the scarf in half to form a triangle, hold in front of your neck with the corner pointing down, then wrap the ends around your neck and overlapping onto your shoulders.
The headscarf is a cute way to either accent a cute outfit or hide a bad hair day! If you are using a square scarf, fold it in half to make a triangle, wrap the two ends around your head and tie in a knot. For a headband style, fold the scarf lengthwise until you have the right thickness, then wrap around your head and tie in a knot.
If you’re having trouble tying your own scarf grab your roommate in your Michigan State apartment and have them tie it for you! hope you enjoy my scarf fashion tips!
