Top 5 MSU Study Spots
For me the place I study sets the mood and sometimes determines how I perform on the exam. I used to just study at my MSU student apartment but I found that it gave me the opportunity to lay down on my couch and fall asleep without being disturbed. Then, I started doing to the library with my friends and sitting together at a large table… well that was just dumb. So now, after attending Michigan State for two and a half years I think I have now found some of the best and worst places to study.
In no particular order, best study spots:
1. Tim Hortons- They have WI-FI, personal tables and between the hours of 7pm and 4am, they are relatively quiet. Not to mention the yummy food. And it’s super close to Chandler Crossing apartments.
2. The 2nd floor of the Main Library at MSU- They have super comfy leather couches but you won’t fall asleep because there are other people around. The 2nd floor is quiet, but not so quiet that you are scared to even sniffle.
3. A table with a few people on the 3rd floor of the MSU Main Library- it is quiet so you want talk to the people that you came with, but you can still use their company to keep you relaxed.
4. MSU Law or Business Libraries- sometimes when you are around smarter people, you work harder. Plus, you have all of these great resources around you.
5. East Lansing Public Library- you will most likely never run into anyone that you know, and there are NO DISTRACTIONS!
6. Computer labs at your apartment community- Chandler Crossings offers computer labs and social lounges in their communities and they are a great place to do studying as well as print off your assignments for free!
Worst Study Spots:
1. Your apartment by yourself- you will start to clean, organize, eat or do other stuff that you put off that doesn’t normally appeal to you until you have to study. You might even start doing laundry- seriously.
2. Your parent’s house- you won’t get anything done. You might start watching TV with them, talk to them and they will just tell you how great you are, make you dinner, and then you will fall asleep in your own comfy bed. Not good!
3. Coffee shops- way too many people, the noise of coffee making has to be one of the most annoying sounds in the world. It is a great place to do people watching but unless that is your homework assignment, you’d better avoid them.
4. 1st floor of the Main MSU Library- you might as well just go to Ricks.
Have some places to add to the list? Feel free to comment!
